Perfect if you’re new to mahjong, want to learn, or just need a refresher. Please make your purchase your tickets before the event so we can plan your learner table.
$35 per person: including one soda or beer per person. Recommend 3-6 classes before graduating from learner table to table.
*Monthly Two Learner Tables: Available on the first and third Friday of each month in Oakland and the first and third Tuesday of each month in Cortland.

Do I need to know how to play Mahjong to join?
No. Beginners are welcome. We offer learner tables where experienced teachers guide you through the rules, tiles, and gameplay so you can comfortably join the fun.
When and where are the Mahjong events held?
Our Mahjong Nights take place weekly at two locations in the Bay Area. Join us in Bernal Heights, San Francisco, on Tuesdays from 6–9 pm, or in Rockridge, Oakland, on Fridays from 6–9 pm, for an evening of Mahjong, community, and fresh dumplings.
How much does it cost to join?
There are two table options available. The Player Table is $7 for guests who already know how to play, while the Learner Table is $35 for beginners or anyone who would like guidance while playing. Children under 7 can join for free.
Do I need to bring my own Mahjong set?
No. We provide Mahjong tables, tiles, and everything needed to play. Just come ready to learn, meet new people, and enjoy the evening. You are welcomed to bring your own Mahjong set if you wish to~
Are food and drinks available during the event?
Yes. Guests can order dumplings, drinks, and other menu items while playing. Many people come for the food and stay for the lively atmosphere of our Mahjong Nights.
How do I reserve a spot?
You can reserve your table through the form on our Mahjong page. Spots are limited because we prepare Mahjong tables in advance, so we recommend reserving early.
How long does a Mahjong game usually take?
A typical Mahjong round takes about 30–45 minutes, depending on the experience level of the players. During our Mahjong Nights, guests usually have time to play multiple rounds throughout the evening.
Is Mahjong a good activity for team building or social events?
